Artist's Comments

This is a recent work that embarked on my Klimt period. The body is 3-D, but the background and draping on the body is flat to follow in Klimt's style. The patterns are on the verge of being abstract, but in proper rendering there is enough realism in the figure to not go over the edge abstract. The red in the left corner is painted on top of gold leaf to create a bold affect and beading and copper was used for ornamental excess. The face is stiff in likeness to " The Medicine Woman" and many other Higher Eschelon women that Gustav Klimt depicted in his work.

I think the 2-D an 3-D integration let the viewer relax into a trippy feel ..lol. Sometimes when you concentrate too much on form in the background it draws away from the importance of the figure. This picture is going to be in the Philadelphia Inquirer, so I hope they take it as well as you did.

this is really interesting - i like the variety of textures and the way you linked the 3D to the 2D background, with the snake and the red blob over your shoulder. also the beads are very pretty =D
